In the late 1940s, vast areas of Inner Mongolia were still under the control of feudal pastoral lords and remnants of the Nationalist forces. Chagan (played by Suyala), a Communist Party member and a son of the grasslands, was an exceptionally skilled horseman. Using his riding skills, he infiltrated the enemy’s Ejinor Cavalry Regiment.
