Aung Lay was born San Tun Aung on January 26, 1992, in Hlaingthaya Township, Yangon, Myanmar. He is the youngest of three siblings. He officially began his career in the entertainment industry in 2009 when he joined renowned model trainer John Lwin's model training. Following professional training, he quickly established himself as a runway and commercial model, becoming part of John Lwin's Star and Model Agency. His early career included numerous catwalk shows and appearances in popular music videos, which helped build his public profile. Aung Lay's work in modeling and music videos led him to the film industry. He received acting training at the Sarkawar acting training class. His big-screen debut provided his major breakthrough.
