Sample review · Rear Window turns looking into an action sequence. The courtyard geography is so clear that tiny changes become events. I keep noticing how much story is told at the edge of the main character’s attention. Always interested in how a story finds its ending.

Sample review · Prisoners is beautifully controlled, although I found the relentless bleakness wearing by the end. The rain and dim interiors do a lot of emotional work. Strong performances kept me involved when the plotting felt crowded. The performances are what draw me back.

Sample review · Se7en is all texture: wet streets, worn rooms, a city that never seems to exhale. It is effective, but this rewatch made me appreciate its restraint in some scenes and question its insistence in others. I tend to notice the sound before the plot.
